Curriculum:
The hierarchal design of the One World program:
Values:
- One World has a track record and a reputation
- students know what they are getting into
- we spend time examining what has come before
- students in their second year (and graduates) help lead
- anything goes... but positivism and global perspective are integral to the class structure
- negative stuff doesn't get on the school CD/DVD!
Teaching strategies:
- all levels of ability are welcome
- the environment is the great equalizer and most students are beginners when it comes to technology AND creativity
- 50% of grade is Independant Study Unit (usually the creation of a music album on CD/DVD
- 25% of grade is assigned creation projects
- 10% is keyboard proficiency (includes music theory)
- 10% is journals (these are very important!)
- 5% is other (opportunity for credit for activities in and out of school)
- Differentiated Instruction, Student Centered, Individualized Attention
- Students are admitted to the program regardless of prior experience.
- Levels of experience are accommodated within program through various spaces; lab, rehearsal rooms, mixing suite, studio A, studio B
- Students collaboration across socio-economic, racial, gender etc. is encouraged.
- Encourage students with advanced technical facility (but not creatively proficient) to collaborate with advanced creative (but not technically proficient) students.
